What Are Resell Rights (RR) and Private Label Rights (PLR) Products?

You’ve no doubt seen "Resell Rights" and “Private Label Rights” titles thrown around all over the Internet. And many times these products and the rights they include can be confusing.
You should try and make sure you understand them so when creating and distributing your own products you don’t give away more than you want to by mistake or experience weak sales because you didn’t use the right language in explaining your offer. You can also get in trouble with the PLR Creators if you violate any of their terms.

So, as simply as possible, here are the basic rights. They each have variations, but this should give you an idea of what they’re all about.

1) Unrestricted Private Label Rights – the most flexible & coveted of all the rights and therefore most valuable. You can do pretty much anything you want with these products including renaming, branding and re-selling as your own, editing, and bundling with other products in packages. You can also give them away, and you can sell giveaway rights to others. You can resell with personal rights only, or offer basic resell rights, or master resell rights, or even private label rights. The danger with giving these rights aways is nothing prevents buyers from turning around and selling them the same day at ½ price and “stealing” your sales. But giving them away also helps build you a list.

2) Private Label Rights – are similar to unrestricted private label rights in that you can rewrite, edit, and call the products your own. But usually they have some limitations like you can only sell above a certain price and you cannot giveaway for free, sell on ebay or something like that.

3) Master Resell Rights – allows you to resell products but not edit them in any way. You cannot call them your own, and you cannot add to or edit the content. With Master Resell Rights, you can also give away the resell rights to others, and quite often you can give away the Master Resell Rights, allowing others to resell the resell rights.

4) Resell Rights – also known as Basic Resell Rights. If you have Resell Rights to a product, You can only resell it, but your customers cannot resell or give the item away. They can only use it for themselves (known as personal rights). Also, You cannot change the product in any way.
